I've been here for two weeks and I would like to stay another, but I know it's not possible.

My experience here has been great:

About the lessons, I only can say that I've enjoyed them a lot. We've worked but also had fun all together. Our teachers had been really nice with us and I have liked the idea of writing a blog :)The activities have been also really interesting and fun. Now I know how to play softball!

And the most important thing in this camp: the people. I've met really good friends. I will keep in touch with some of them and I will may not see the others, but the adventures we have had here are unforgettable: we have laugh, we have cried, we have shouted, we have fell...

When I think about Saturday I’m sad because I leave the camp but I also feel happy because I will see my friends and my parents :)

Life in the 16th century

Today in my blog I will speak about the life in the 16th century. I will compare the different styles of life and then I will conclude which is the best time to live.


16th century:

The average life expectancy was just 35 years.
Most Tudor people lived in the countryside, in small villages. Tudor England was a farming society. Most of the population (over 90 %) lived in small villages and made their living from farming.
Water was collected from village pumps, wells or streams but was often polluted.
They were often just a piece of wood over a bowl or a hole in the ground.
There were none of the comforts we have today. Home life was really hard because they didn’t have electricity in the houses.

Today
The average life expectancy is nowadays more less 80 years.
Most of the population live in towns and big cities.
Because of the big innovations, people work in the industries in the big towns.
All the houses have faucets, baths, showers… where water is automatically.
They are well equipped, comfortable and hygienic.
The technology makes our life really easy. We have electricity so we can watch TV, play games, play with the computer…

These are the principal differences between the 16th century and nowadays.
But there’s a thing that has not changed: the social differences.

In the 16th century, there was a big difference between rich and poor people. Rich people dressed really well, with really beautiful and ornate dresses, and lived in beautiful houses while poor people wore simple, loose-fitting clothes made from woollen cloth.

So, in my opinion, it’s true that we have made many advances technologically and socially domain but we have to continue advancing in human domain.

Weekend 25-26/07/09

On Saturday morning we went to a huge shopping centre. We left the school in bus at 9 o'clock and we arrived nearly 11 o'clock at the science museum. From 11 to 12:30 we could visit calmly the museum: we saw the future experiences, the legends of the past, the human body constitution... It has been really interesting.

After that, at 1o'clock we could enter in the shopping centre and buy things until 4:15 because we had to go to the musical. We all bought many things!

The musical started at 7 'clock so before that we had already eaten something in the Mc Donald's. I really enjoyed the musical. I liked all the songs and the actors were really good :)
We came back at school at 11:45, approximately.

On Sunday, we went to Thorpe Park. There was a lot of people so we only could enter in 4 attractions. In my opinion the best one was Stealth. We arrived at school at 5 o'clock, we did some activities and we went to bed at 10 o'clock!

Globe &Tate

Wednesday we went to London to visit the Globe Theatre and the Tate Modern Museum.

The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare. It was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men. The Globe theatre was open to audiences in the summer and the performances took place by daylight; the King's company usually began to play in the month of May.

The grounds surrounding the Globe Theatre were bustled with people. There were Stalls selling merchandise and refreshments creating a market day atmosphere.

What a treat the theatre was for the people of Elizabethan London. Histories, Tragedies and Comedies were written by the greatest playwright of them all - William Shakespeare. The popularity of the theatre reached people from all walks of life - from Royalty to the Nobility and the Commoners.

In this theatre we can see the life in the 16th century which is very different than nowadays.

And then, we went to visit the Tate Modern Museum. I prefer the tate modern museum because we can see the works and we can imagine what the author wanted to say to us, the public. It has been really interesting.]

Into the future.

Today I will speak about my perfect future.


First of all, I think that we would travel around the world in few minutes with really fast vehicles. For example, cars would fly and like that you wouldn't wait and do queues. And these fast vehicles would be automatics and we would not have to drive. I think it can be really good :)


Then, the houses would be well-equipped. Instead of washing up, washing the dishes, tidy up our room and cleaning the floor, there would be a robot to do all this things. So if we break a dish, the robot would take it and throw it into the bin.


And finally, the technology in the schools would be developed so we would be able to do virtual classes and see the civil wars, world wars... all the historic events.


But in my opinion, in this world really technologic the obesity would increase and that's not a good think. All persons would become sedentary and they wouldn't move so they wouldn't do any exercise and they would become really fat. That's a problem because the obesity carries a lot of other disease like cardiac problems.

So the future seems to be fantastic but we have to think about the consequences.

First day :)

I arrived on Saturday at Queenswood. I'm Mireia and i come from Spain, Barcelona. In the airport i met five other Spanish guys and i came here with them.

When i arrived and i saw all the different houses and places i though that it was too big! But when i started looking around me and visiting the places, i liked it.

All the people is really nice. They have shown me all the college and explained all the activities we are supposed to do or we can do here. I think that it's a good place too learn English but at the same time to have fun! :)

This is my first post. So i didn't know really good what to write but i will do it better next time :)
